GUTHAN TEMPLE

Guthan is a place located in Theog tehsil of Shimla district popularly known for its famous Doom Devta Temple. We experienced the community participation during planning & reconstruction of the temple complex. People of the village & surrounding areas are dedicated for the community work & committed to the tradition & culture. Main Shrine is Located at the center of complex. Peripheral temple complex was reconstructed in Katha Kuni style. The framework of the wood – stone wall is the key characteristic of this construction style. This method of non-rigid frames & dry masonry construction helps in dissipating energy during earthquake & ground movement. Traditional and vernacular buildings are ecologically sensitive and climate responsive. Any change in these designs should aim for human comfort and aesthetical upliftment. These sustainable designs help to preserve culture at the lowest possible ecological cost. The traditional construction methods and processes provides thermally comfortable shelter to the occupants by taking into account considerations to local climatic conditions.
